Since the weather was spring-like and it was such a nice day, I decided to take an opportunity to film some trains along the NS Norfolk District after school. First off is NS 387, one of two manifest trains on the line. His power was a bit boring, two Catfish. However, this guy had an awesome Nathan K5LAR24 horn which produced good echoes off of the buildings and homes in town.

Recorded 2.11.2009

*We were driving along I-64 when I saw Bridge #7 over the Elizabeth River lowered. It was a few seconds later when I noticed 387 going through the bridge. We took the nearest exit, but went over a bridge that crossed the tracks, and 387 was basically almost right below us. We ended up getting behind a really slow old-person driver, and ended up missing 387 by about a minute or so. However, when we got to Windsor where these two crossings are, my mom was convinced that we could beat this train to the Dairy Queen. I replied, "No freaking way. There's no time." Turns out that I was right, because when we pulled into a parking lot nearby, I could already hear the train's horn blowing. Within seconds, the gates came down. Muhahaha, I win!
