YouTube Stops Requiring Premium Subscription , To Play Videos in 4K.<br />Engadget reports that YouTube took to Twitter to make the announcement.<br />It's not clear why the platform <br />is ending the experiment. .<br />But according to 9to5Google, <br />it caused significant backlash.<br />Users weren't happy about paying $12 per month <br />or $120 a year to have access to the website's <br />highest resolution for playing videos.<br />Engadget reports that those who weren't involved in the experiment were also worried that it would become a permanent feature only available to Premium subscribers.<br />It's not yet known whether YouTube will permanently do away with the idea.<br />Engadget reports that the company posted a tweet in Japanese asking for feedback about the experiment
