NBC News reports that the French author was announced as this year's winner on Oct. 6, 2022 in Stockholm, Sweden.<br />The Nobel committee recognized her for “the courage and clinical acuity with which she uncovers the roots, estrangements and collective restraints of personal memory.”<br />"In her writing, Ernaux consistently and from different angles, examines a life marked by strong disparities regarding gender, language and class. Her path to authorship was long and arduous." Via nobelprize.org.<br />Nobel prize announcements started on Oct. 3, 2022.<br />Swedish scientist Svante Pääbo won the award in medicine for discovering new information about Neanderthal DNA.<br />On Oct. 4, 2022 John Clauser, Alain Aspect and Anton Zeilinger won the prize in physics for their work on quantum information science.<br />On Oct. 5, 2022 Carolyn R. Bertozzi, Morten Meldal and K. Barry Sharpless won the prize in chemistry for developing a way of “snapping molecules together” to help design more efficient drugs.
