A strong and shallow earthquake has struck near Solomon Islands. The magnitude seven quake hit Malango at a depth of just 10 kilometres. A second quake, with a magnitude of 6 struck nearby 30 minutes later. The Solomon Islands meteorological service says there is no tsunami threat to the country but has warned of unusual sea currents in coastal areas.
