'Shang-Chi' Star Simu Liu , Responds to Tarantino's , Marvel Criticism.<br />'Shang-Chi' Star Simu Liu , Responds to Tarantino's , Marvel Criticism.<br />Quentin Tarantino recently referred to the present state of the U.S. entertainment industry as <br />"the Marvel-ization of Hollywood.".<br />[Marvel films are] the only things that seem to generate any kind of excitement amongst a <br />fanbase or even for the <br />studio making them, Quentin Tarantino, Film Director, via CNN.<br />While Tarantino clarified that he doesn't "hate" Marvel films, he stated that he also does not "love them.".<br />Filmmaker Martin Scorsese described Marvel films <br />as not "cinema" but more like "theme parks.".<br />Both filmmakers have received criticism for misogynistic portrayals of women and a <br />lack of diversity in their films.<br />The 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' <br />star posted his comments to Twitter on Nov. 22.<br />If the only gatekeepers to movie stardom came from Tarantino and Scorsese, I would never have had the opportunity to lead a $400 million plus movie, Simu Liu, Marvel Actor, via CNN.<br />I am in awe of their filmmaking genius.
