Arizona County Sued , for Refusing to Certify Election Results.<br />NBC News reports that GOP-controlled Cochise County was sued by AZ Secretary <br />of State Katie Hobbs on Nov. 28.<br />The state's statutory deadline for certifying midterm election results fell on the same day.<br />Earlier that day, county officials voted to <br />delay certifying election results until Dec. 2.<br />AZ must certify results for the state by Dec. 8 whether all counties have done so or not.<br />Absent this Court’s intervention, the Secretary will have no choice but to complete the statewide canvass by December 8 without Cochise County’s votes included, Via lawsuit.<br />Thus, the Board’s inaction not only violates the plain language of the statute, but also undermines a basic tenet of free and fair elections in this state: ensuring that every Arizonan’s voice is heard, Via lawsuit.<br />NBC News reports that Ann English, the only Democrat on the Cochise County Board of Supervisors, said, "there is no reason for us to delay.".<br />We have been presented materials that was asked for at the last meeting from both sides, and I feel that you both have the information necessary in order to make this decision, Ann English, Cochise County Board of Supervisors Member, via NBC News.<br />Hobbs is set to become <br />the state's next governor.
