Death after ambulance delay and fears this winter will ‘topple’ the NHS - BBC Newsnight<br /><br />Newsnight has spent months investigating what's going on at different NHS trusts in England and Wales, and the impact it’s having on patients. <br /><br />Our revelations centre on the West Midlands Ambulance Service where this year so far 37 patients have died after an ambulance was delayed in getting to them. <br /><br />In the whole of 2020, only one person died before the ambulance turned up after a delay. <br /><br />Darren Childs waited 47 minutes for an ambulance when his one-year-old daughter had a seizure, far beyond the 7 minute response target for such a life or death call. He fears ‘we are losing the NHS’ and that this winter’s pressures will ‘topple’ it.<br /><br />Chief Correspondent David Grossman reports.
