Co-op Funeralcare, Bogmoor Place.<br /><br />Co-op Funeralcare Coffin Makers enter 3rd month of strike action.<br /><br />Coffin makers for major funeral care company in Scotland hold further strike over pay.<br />Around 50 coffin makers at Co-operative Funeral Care’s factory in Bogmoor Place, Glasgow in Scotland began a seven-day stoppage Monday.<br /><br />The Unite union members held previous walkouts beginning at the end of October. They voted by a 96 percent majority for the stoppage, rejecting a pay offer less than half the current inflation rate. An improved pay offer from the Co-op last week was also rejected. The site supplies coffins to the Co-op funeral business throughout the UK.<br /><br />Co-op Funeralcare coffin manufacturers walk out again in pay dispute.<br />The factory is one of the only manufacturing sites in the UK.<br /><br />A week-long strike by Glasgow coffin manufacturers has started in response to a protracted salary dispute.<br /><br />Co-op Funeralcare in Govan employs about 50 craft workers, and they will begin to leave on Monday after the company's new offer was turned down.<br /><br />The company proposed a 4% raise for this year and a 5% raise for 2023.<br /><br />Despite the fact that inflation was expected to rise much further, Unite the union declined the offer.<br /><br />The only coffin manufacturing in Scotland and the entire United Kingdom is located in Glasgow.<br /><br />The December walkout marked the third consecutive month of strike activity, and Unite has warned that additional action may be planned.<br /><br />In the UK, Co-op employs close to 60,000 people.
