Officials and residents in flood-affected parts of the Kimberley are bracing for crucial freight routes to be closed for months, with roads and bridges severely damaged. In the meantime, a new route through the heart of the country is proving a lifeline for many. But the 12-thousand kilometre round trip doesn't make for a quick journey.
