How to Change Drive Letter on Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7 with Command Prompt?<br /><br />Windows automatically occupy a drive letter for every hard disk partition, like C, D, E, etc.<br /><br />However, if you need, you can change the drive letter using Command Prompt.<br /><br />Please note you can copy the commands from this video description.<br /><br />How to Change Drive Letter on Windows PCs?<br /><br />Every Windows ships with an inbuilt Command Prompt, and you can use this method on all Windows versions, including Windows Vista, 7, 8, 10, and Windows 11.<br /><br />To change a drive letter using CMD or Command Prompt window, first, click on the Start button.<br /><br />Then, type cmd or command prompt.<br /><br />In the search results, right-click on Command Prompt, and select the Run as administrator option.<br /><br />On the command prompt window, type diskpart and hit Enter key from the keyboard.<br /><br />On the DISKPART prompt, type the list volume command to show all hard drives, including their volume numbers and letters.<br /><br />To select any volume, type select volume 5 and press Enter key on the keyboard.<br /><br />In my example, we are selecting Volume 5. If you want to change the volume letter of another partition, then change No 5 accordingly.<br /><br />Now, to change the drive letter, type assign letter=M and press Enter key on the keyboard.<br /><br />Please note, here we are assigning the letter M to volume 5; you can change the drive letter accordingly as per your choice.<br /><br />That's it.
