Warrington<br /><br />Harold Jarvis (full name Harold Augustus Jarvis) lived from 1864 to 1924. <br /><br />The tenor was born on December 27, 1864, in Toronto, Canada.<br /><br />He began his professional life as a sailor, reaching the rank of officer with the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company and also served in the Royal Naval Reserve. <br /><br />After studying music and starting a musical career doing concert work, he settled in Detroit in 1891 as tenor soloist at the First Presbyterian Church. <br /><br />In 1892 he married the singer Laura Geikie of Toronto and continued his concert activity. <br /><br />He made recordings for Victor, Columbia, and Edison.<br /><br />He died on April 1, 1924, in Detroit.
