There has been a significant rise in child deaths across Merseyside over the past year. Between April 2021 and March 2022, 104 children lost their lives in the region – an 18% increase on the previous year. The child death overview panel compiled the figures.<br /><br />Teachers in Liverpool have walked out in a dispute over pay. Members of the National Education Union voted to take industrial action in a stand over pay and services. The Government say they've written to teaching unions inviting them to engage in formal talks.<br /><br />Two major milestones have been met at the Festival Gardens site, with the excavation of the Development Zone complete and the planting of 4,500 trees. A scheme for potentially 1,500 homes is predicted to begin in 2025, subject to relevant planning approvals.<br />
