Real Betis fans fought with riot police at Old Trafford during the closing stages of their 4-1 defeat to Manchester United.<br /><br />Trouble appeared to flare up in the away end shortly after Wout Weghorst effectively killed off the tie by scoring United's fourth goal of the game.<br /><br />Several away supporters appeared to try and climb over the barrier separating both sets of fans into the home end in the South Stand. <br /><br />Images show riot police were quick to respond with a line of them getting in between both sets of supporters and preventing any away fans from getting into the home section.<br /><br />TalkSPORT reported that bottles and even a seat were thrown by Betis fans toward the United end.<br /><br />The Athletic also reported that one fan took off their belt to try and whip United fans over the green netting in between them. <br /><br />There were further reports of scuffles among police and Betis fans, though they were unable to climb into the home end and eventually the situation was calmed down. <br /><br />It was a strong night for the Red Devils in their first outing since their humiliating 7-0 loss to Liverpool.<br /><br />Goals from Marcus Rashford, Antony, Bruno Fernandes, and Weghorst helped United to a comfortable first-leg victory in the last-16.<br /><br />Weghorst had celebrated wildly with emotion after scoring his first Old Trafford goal for United in front of the visiting fans, though he didn’t attempt to rile them up.<br /><br />It will give United the chance to rest some of their players when they travel to Spain for the second leg of the tie. .......
