A man who claimed to have refused to exit a car to prevent UK border agents from detaining two men for alleged immigration allegations in Pollockshields in May 2021, has now been cleared of all charges. <br /><br />Officers claimed that 33-year-old Nicholas Sigsworth failed to engage with them while they tried to carry out the operation, but was found not guilty.<br /><br />Next, following discussions, Glasgow City Council has announced it supports a ban on the sale of single-use vapes and is writing to the Scottish government, calling for new legislation.<br /><br />A spokesperson says they are concerned about environmental and health impacts, while a national review by Zero Waste Scotland has been commissioned by ministers.<br /><br />And in other news, this year’s Glasgow Film Festival has been hailed a success as admissions rose by 25 percent compared to 2022 figures. <br /><br />Almost 34,000 people attended 295 screenings over the 12 days, which saw cinema bounce back to pre-pandemic levels. <br />
