Glasgow’s Health and Social Care Partnership has announced almost £22 million in cuts to services, resulting in the loss of 197 full-time staff. <br /><br />The GMB union said this would have a devastating effect on those who rely on services, while the council defended the move, putting it down to inflationary pressures. <br /><br />Next, Easterhouse’s Daffodil Club, which has provided lifeline care to elderly people for more than 30 years, is facing closure due to the financial crisis. <br /><br />The organisation said they only have enough money in reserve to operate for six more months, putting it down to budget cuts and a drop in charity funding. <br /><br />The authority said their funds were oversubscribed, with money granted to those most in need. <br /><br />And in other news, the August House has launched a monthly boozy brunch event, offering a variety of packages on the first Saturday of every month. <br /><br />The Glitterball Brunch will begin on 1 April and can be booked through Skiddle.
