Donald Trump supporters gathered outside his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida on Thursday night (31 March) after the former president was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury.<br /><br />Many of those gathered were seen waving pro-Trump flags and heard singing patriotic songs.<br /><br />Mr Trump on Thursday became the first former president to face a criminal charge, jolting his bid to retake the White House next year.<br /><br />While the charges remained under seal, the investigation centred on payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign to silence claims of an extramarital sexual encounter.
