A man and a woman have died after a severe fire ripped through a house in the early hours of this morning (Mon).<br /><br />Emergency services were called to Croxdene Avenue in Bloxwich, Walsall, West Mids., where the pair were found in a critical condition at 2.28am.<br /><br />Despite the efforts of medics, they were both pronounced dead at the scene and investigators are now examining the cause of the fatal blaze. <br /><br />West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an ambulance, two paramedic officers, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic.<br /><br />A service spokesperson said: “Upon arrival, crews discovered two patients, a man and a woman.<br /><br />"The man was assessed and was in a critical condition. He received advanced life support from ambulance staff at the scene.<br /><br />“Unfortunately, it became clear that nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.<br /><br />"The woman was in a critical condition. Sadly, it became apparent that nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed deceased at the scene."<br /><br />A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said: "At around 2am we responded to a serious house fire in the Bloxwich area in a two-storey house. <br /><br />"Six firefighters went in to put the fire out. Two occupants were in the house. Fire investigators are there to establish the cause of the fire."
