Frederick R. "Chubby" Parker lived from 1876 to 1940).<br /><br />He played American "old-time" or folk music. He was a popular radio entertainer.<br /><br />Parker was born in Lafayette, Indiana, in 1876. His grandparents were from Kentucky, and his father was the deputy treasurer of Tippecanoe County, Indiana. <br /><br />Parker graduated from Purdue University in 1898.<br /><br />In 1925 Parker began appearing on the National Barn Dance program of Chicago radio station WLS.<br /><br />He recorded over 50 titles.<br /><br />In 1952, Harry Everett Smith released his influential Anthology of American Folk Music, and included Parker's song "King Kong Kitchie Kitchie Ki-Me-O," an arrangement of the traditional English folk song "Frog Went A-Courting."<br /><br />Sound file was done by Cary Ginell<br /><br />Chubby Parker & His Little Old Time Banjo "Get Away Old Maids, Get Away" (1931) Melotone M12524
