Glasgow headlines 3 May: West end residents in anger as multiple cars experience vandalism

The west end’s Thornwood Avenue community has expressed their anger as almost every car on the street was vandalised.<br /><br />Affected residents took to social media to share their experience as cars were signed or drawn on with white paint. <br /><br />While victims did not the paint appears to scratch off easily, officers said enquiries into the matter are ongoing. <br /><br />Next up, Sauchiehall Street’s Savoy nightclub is set to undergo a £500,000 refurbishment.<br /><br />The huge makeover will see the iconic sticky carpet be stripped from the venue, a completely new layout and more modern decor. <br /><br />It will be closed for a week while works are underway, though the club is hosting one last bank holiday party to celebrate. <br /><br />And in other news, Glasgow City Council has called on the Scottish Government to grant them tougher powers against fly tippers. <br /><br />A senior councillor has written to the First Minister asking for the power to increase fines they are able to impose and more detergents for repeat offenders.
