A mum has created a display to mark the coronation of King Charles III - made up of 150 GNOMES.

Nikki Potter, 55, started collecting the figurines during the pandemic and often arranges them in her front garden.

She decided she wanted to do something special for the coronation so added a royal flavour to her latest design.

Nikki, a parish nurse, says locals in Sutton, south London love her displays.

And she's taking part in a tea party on Saturday (6/5) so people can admire her work.

Nikki said: “I've collected them for quite a long time now - I just like their faces, they make me smile.

"Its just been a lovely thing. One lady said she came every day to see the gnomes and that it makes her mind cheerful for the day.

"We’ll have a tea party for coronation and have the gnomes out - people can come and have a look and enjoy."

Nikki started putting together displays during lockdown as a fun sight for children during walks.

But now the gnomes come out for special occasions - and she even creates banners for the gnomes to hold for birthdays.

Nikki said: "In the pandemic I put one gnome in the window and people would stop and look.

So I thought I’ll put two out and then three, and it carried on from there.

"I did it for the church I belong to for the children as well.

"I took a picture of them every day and would put it on the church's WhatsApp group.

"I'd hide a tiny one in the picture and the kids would try and find the tiny one first.

"For the 75th D-day anniversary celebrations we had the Queen gnome out and made scene for that and then did the same for the jubilee.

"One little boy would come on his scooter every day with his mum and watch us put them out and I used to get up early on a Saturday morning as one family would come up on their bikes with their dad to have a look.

"I got to know a lot of people through it - people still tell me that they remember the gnomes."
