A Turkish opposition leader cut short a rally in the city of Erzurum after pro-government protesters pelted his campaign bus with stones.<br /><br />Ekrem Imamoglu, who is the current mayor of Istanbul, was speaking in support of the CHP party’s presidential candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu.<br /><br />Violence flared up when supporters of the current government of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan infiltrated the rally and began throwing stones.<br /><br />The city of Erzurum is considered a stronghold of the the government’s AKP party.<br /><br />Presidential and parliamentary elections take place in Turkey on Sunday 14 May.
