The West Ham fan that confronted the AZ Alkmaar hooligans this week was given a standing ovation at the London Stadium on Sunday.<br /><br />Lifelong Hammer Chris Knoll, or Knollsy as he’s affectionately known, made headlines on Thursday when he was seen defending his club’s fans from the Dutch side’s ultras.<br /><br />David Moyes’ team advanced to the final 3-1 on aggregate, but a night of celebration took a turn as a section of the home side’s supporters advanced towards the away end after the final whistle.<br /><br />Knollsy was pictured right in the middle of the action alongside players and fellow supporters, fighting off those trying to get at the travelling fans.<br /><br />Now, Knollsy, who earned a black eye for his troubles, has received a thank you from his fellow Hammers fans.<br /><br />West Ham welcomed Leeds to the London Stadium on Sunday and during the match, Knollsy was pictured receiving a standing ovation from those in the stands around him.<br /><br />Photos posted to social media also show he was greeted with handshakes as he made his way through to his seat.<br /><br />Knollsy’s day will have been made even better by his side’s result, too.<br /><br />Leeds star Rodrigo’s stunning opening goal was cancelled out by Declan Rice, before Jarrod Bowen and Manuel Lanzini scored to seal a 3-1 win for the Hammers.<br /><br />The result leaves the Yorkshire side floundering in the relegation zone as the Hammers move up to 14th with one game of the season for each club left to go.
