2023-05-31 11 Dailymotion

The demolition of the St Enoch’s Centre has now been approved under the council’s redevelopment plans which will see it replaced with shops, offices, restaurants and homes.

The demolition will be carried out in phases over the next 15 to 20 years, while key buildings will be retained.

The gradual construction will mean businesses can operate during the works.

Next up, rail services in the city did face disruption after a person was struck by a train.

Scotrail announced the incident had occurred on the line between Port Glasgow and Wemyss Bay on 30 May, and a spokesperson said they were working closely with the emergency services.

And in other news, Unite the union is calling on the council to halt parking charges at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary as the low emission zone comes into force.

As the hospital sits partially on the border for LEZ, those who cannot find a space in the multi-storey car park will be forced to exit into the restricted area and could be subject to fines if their car is non-compliant.

A spokesperson for the union said this was unfair to staff and patients.
