The Team GB canoeing team were on the water in town today, not to compete, but to help clear the Nottingham Canal of plastic rubbish.<br />The work was part of the Big Paddle Cleanup scheme, involving around 1,200 paddlers clearing the country’s waterways every year.<br /><br />Last year, across the UK, more than two thousand bottles, almost one-and-a-half thousand cans and more than three thousand food wrappers were recovered by the scheme.
