Trump Is Subject of , Justice Department's , Classified Documents Probe.<br />CNN reports that former President Donald Trump has been informed of the investigation.<br />This means the Justice Dept. prosecutors could be close to issuing an indictment of Trump.<br />At issue is the mishandling of classified documents after Trump's presidency.<br />Such documents were discovered at Trump's Mar a Lago residence by FBI agents two years after his presidency.<br />Informing Trump that he is the subject of special counsel Jack Smith's investigation ...<br />... implies that Trump is the focus, rather than others in Trump's immediate circle.<br />Trump's legal team has been on the offensive.<br />During a meeting on June 5, attorneys for the former president met with DOJ prosecutors and laid out misconduct allegations.<br />During a June 7 interview, Trump would not state whether he'd been informed of the developments.<br />He stated that he was not informed of an imminent indictment.<br />Prosecutors have apparently interviewed dozens of people close to the former president.<br />Trump's former chief of staff Mark Meadows recently testified before a grand jury as part of the investigation.<br />Despite being the subject of Trump's ire, former Vice President Mike Pence recently stated he thinks an indictment would be a mistake.<br />This kind of action by the Department of Justice, I think, would only fuel further division in the country, Mike Pence, Former Vice President, via CNN
