Glenda Jackson, , Oscar-Winning Actor, Dead at 87.<br />Jackson's death was confirmed by her agent, Lionel Larner, on June 15.<br />Glenda Jackson, two-time Academy Award-winning actress and politician, 87, died peacefully at her home in London this morning after a short illness with her family by her side, Lionel Larner, Jackson's agent, via statement.<br />She recently completed filming ‘The Great Escaper’ in which she co-starred with Michael Caine, Lionel Larner, Jackson's agent, via statement.<br />Today we lost one of the world’s greatest actresses and I have lost a best friend of over 50 years, Lionel Larner, Jackson's agent, via statement.<br />Jackson graduated from the <br />Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, <br />which she attended on scholarship, CNN reports.<br />She went on to star on London's West End <br />and debuted on Broadway in 1965.<br />Her first Oscar for best actress was awarded for her role in 1969's "Women in Love.".<br />Her second Academy Award was for <br />her work in 1973's "A Touch of Class.".<br />Jackson delved into politics in 1992, <br />at which point she became a Labour MP.<br />She ran for mayor of London in 2000 <br />but lost to Ken Livingstone.<br />In 2018, Jackson won a Tony Award <br />for her part in "Three Tall Women."
