Reddit Hackers Want , $4.5 Million Ransom.<br />Ransomware group BlackCat claims to be responsible for the phishing attack on the platform in February, The Verge reports.<br />The hackers say they stole 80GB of data and will release it to the public unless their demands are met.<br />In addition to wanting $4.5 million, the group is demanding that Reddit doesn't implement API pricing changes.<br />Third-party app developers will soon be charged potentially millions of dollars per year.<br />Those upcoming changes prompted <br />protests and blackouts last week.<br />Previously, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman <br />said the company intends to follow <br />through with the changes.<br />Reddit needs to be a self-sustaining business, and to do that, we can no longer subsidize commercial entities that require large-scale data use, Steve Huffman, Reddit CEO, via The Verge.<br />We’ll continue to be profit-driven until profits arrive.
