A street racer who drove recklessly at a car meet-up and collided with a pedestrian before flipping his own vehicle evading the police has been arrested.<br /><br />Officers were led on a high-speed pursuit through the streets after the suspect fled the scene of a Target parking lot.<br /><br />Footage released by Lee County Sheriff's Office in Florida, USA, shows the suspect doing doughnuts in the parking lot, hitting a pedestrian and then fleeing the scene at speeds of over 100mph. <br /><br />Driver Mateo Juan Gonzalez, 21, was eventually arrested after he flipped his car and officers apprehended him and his passenger Erik De Anda, 20.<br /><br />According to Lee County Sheriff's Department, Gonzalez was charged for fleeing the police, reckless driving leading to damage to a person or property, racing vehicle, and another charge of reckless driving.<br /><br />While De Anda was charged with riding as a passenger in a race competition. <br /><br />Lee County Sheriff's Office posted a statement on social media saying: "Check out the moment Mateo Gonzalez Juan burns out in a business parking lot, hits a pedestrian, flees at dangerously high speeds, and flips his vehicle. <br /><br />"He’s charged with street racing, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, and was booked in the Marceno Motel. <br /><br />"The passenger, Erik De Anda, was also arrested for his involvement in street racing."<br /><br />Sheriff Carmine Marceno added: “I made a promise to the residents of Lee County that street racing and takeovers will not be tolerated on our streets. <br /><br />"We took this criminal’s car, gun, and his freedom. <br /><br />"These groups think they’re taking over my streets…we’re coming for you!”
