Staff at Brel, a popular bar in Glasgow’s West End have been told they will no longer receive the ‘real living wage’ as the business downgrades its pay scheme to national minimum wage. <br /><br />This means employees will be subject to pay cuts, while a spokesperson for the Brel said the move was to ensure the business remains sustainable. <br /><br />Next, a swarm of bees which forced the closure of a city centre bar has been removed after three days. <br /><br />Staff at 63rd+1st had to flee from the fire exit after around 20,000 of the insects marked their territory on Bothwell Street. <br /><br />The bees were safely removed by the Glasgow and District Beekeepers’ Association. <br /><br />And in other news, councillors are calling for a citywide 20 miler per hour speed limit following a ‘serious spike’ in deaths. <br /><br />In 2023, there has already been more road fatalities than the number recorded last year.<br /><br />The authority is now seeking to improve safety and encourage active travel.<br />
