The Secretary of State opening proceedings at an LGBT reception at Stormont by announcing that his plans for UN-based compulsory sex education plans for Northern Ireland had been voted through the House of Commons.<br />The plans have been praised by the NI Human Rights Commission and the NSPCC but strongly opposed by all the major churches in Northern Ireland, the DUP and a House of Lords legislative scrutiny committee.<br />He was speaking on 28 June 2023.<br />
