<p>The United Nations has voted to end its decade-old peacekeeping mission in Mali. The UN Security Council's decision comes two weeks after Mali's military leadership accused the 13,000-strong Minusma force of failing to tackle a jihadist insurgency. In August of last year, France withdrew its troops from Mali. The move reopened a security vacuum that allowed Russia's mercenary Wagner Group to step in.</p><br />Also, in the arid lands of Cameroon's Far North region, a region already having to contend with incursions by the jihadist group Boko Haram, drinking water is a rare commodity. To solve this problem, the Cameroon Red Cross has set up a solar pumping system, rehabilitated a drinking water production station and built standpipes in the Makary district of the Logone and Chari department, on the border with Chad.
