Improving life from the ground up<br /><br />It's customary in Japan to take off shoes and change to indoor footwear when entering a home or a public facility. This custom dates back about 150 years, when the Japanese made indoor shoes for western visitors who were not accustomed to taking shoes off. Over the years, slippers became the most common type, and today, they come in a vast variety of styles. Recently, new designs were developed to focus on keeping people fit at home by improving posture.
