A heatwave which has caused extreme weather in southern Europe is expected to peak today (Tuesday 18 July), though extreme conditions could continue for another 10 days.<br /><br />The Italian island of Sardinia is expected to see a high of 46C (114.8F), while the Spanish island of La Palma and mainland Greece have experienced wildfires.<br /><br />Across the globe, extreme weather has caused temperature spikes in the US and China, and heavy rainfall and flooding in South Korea.
