A couple have transformed their “boring” new build home into a pink paradise themselves in 18 months – despite being DIY novices.<br /><br />Vrons, 37, and Chris Beaumont, 40, have both always have a love of colour and love dressing up and being “ridiculous”.<br /><br />They moved into a two-bed new build in August 2019 and decided to paint the kitchen pink when they were bored over Christmas 2021.<br /><br />Vrons was inspired by Pinterest and painted the cabinets mint green, their fridge pink and bought colourful stick on tiles to put over the existed brown ones.<br /><br />After loving their results they took to transforming the other rooms into a pop of colour.<br /><br />Vrons, who works in sales, and Chris, owner of Beaumont design, have done it all themselves despite only doing a tiny bit of DIY before.<br /><br />Vrons, from Nottingham, East Midlands, said: “We were bored and looking for something to do.<br /><br />“I said lets paint the kitchen cabinets and then it went from there.<br /><br />“We hadn’t done a lot of DIY before.<br /><br />“We were so happy with it.<br /><br />“It escalated from there.<br /><br />“It’s just paint.<br /><br />“I’m not going to live in a house I don’t like just because I might sell it.<br /><br />“Ridiculous – it’s our mantra.”<br /><br />Vrons and Chris have now decorated nearly every room in the house in colour – and predominately in pink, blue and green – but still have the guest bedroom to do up.<br /><br />The pair taught themselves DIY skills using YouTube tutorials and spent 18 months transforming the once white and brown décor to a colourful space.<br /><br />Vrons said: “The guest bedroom we did that really hastily so it needs redoing – it’s a bit Mrs Hinch at the moment.<br /><br />“The rest of the house is very over the top.”<br /><br />Vrons favourite room is her bathroom – which was the last thing they decorated.<br /><br />She transformed a brown and beige tiled room in a “mermaid bathroom” – using vinyl for around £200 for the sheet.<br /><br />She said: “That’s been a massive change.<br /><br />“It makes my start to the day.”<br /><br />The DIY novices home project inspired Chris to start a business upcycling tables into funky designs – after losing his job in admin during the pandemic.<br /><br />Vrons said: “I’d bought a plane round bedside table and he did it up as a surprise when I came back from a trip.<br /><br />“I posted it on my home account and people went nuts.”<br /><br />Now Chris works full time and makes 300 – 400 unique and customised tables a year.<br /><br />The couple enjoy colour in every aspect of their life.<br /><br />Vrons said: “We both dress very colourfully.<br /><br />“We both enjoy dressing up.<br /><br />“We encourage each other to be as ridiculous as possible.”<br /><br />The pair even have a big neon sign which says “ridiculous” on their stairwell.<br /><br />Vrons said: “It brings us joy.<br /><br />“Colour for me - it’s happiness and joy. The feeling of letting go.<br /><br />“Have your house how you want it. Don’t worry about what other people think.<br /><br />“People say I wish I was brave enough or I wish my husband would let me do this. It makes me so sad.<br /><br />“Chris and I don’t have the exact same tastes but we always find a compromise.”<br /><br />The couple said guests love coming to their home.
