The new McLaren 750S Spider made its North American dynamic debut and became a member of the coveted “200 mph club” at the Sun Valley Tour de Force event on Saturday, July 22nd with former McLaren Formula 1 driver Stefan Johansson piloting the brand’s latest supercar.

As part of McLaren’s 60th anniversary celebrations, the new 750S joined its predecessors, the renowned 720S and track focussed 765LT, to aim for the 200mph mark on a 3.2 mile stretch of closed state highway in the heart of scenic Sun Valley, Idaho.

Johansson was amongst a bevy of McLaren customers who secured VMAX velocities in excess of 200mph at what has been termed ‘the most unique car event in the country’ – a fundraiser organised to benefit non-profit charities in the local Sun Valley area.

The McLaren 750S defines a new benchmark for supercar performance and driver exhilaration. The lightest and most powerful series-production McLaren, the new V8-engined, 740bhp McLaren 750S – available in Coupe and Spider versions – is unashamedly a supercar for the purist. With ferocious performance, it can reach 60mph in just 2.7 seconds and 124mph in 7.2 seconds and – as confirmed by Saturday’s run – an independently verified top speed in excess of 200mph.
