Former US president Barack Obama has sent a message of support to the residents of Hawaii affected by the deadly wildfires.<br /><br />Obama said efforts needed to be “stepped up” and that thoughts and prayers “in a moment like this are not enough”, as he urged members of the public to donate to aid those affected.<br /><br />On Monday authorities said the death toll from the wildfires stands at 96, making it the deadliest in the US for more than a century.<br /><br />In a video posted online, Obama said: “We now find ourselves mourning the lives that are lost in our thoughts and prayers to the families that have lost so much.”
