Paralympic cycling champion and amputee given wristwatch as prize

A Paralympic cyclist whose arms were amputated was awarded a wristwatch after winning the C1 category at the 2023 UCI World Championships in Glasgow on Saturday, 12 August.<br /><br />Ricardo Ten Argiles was presented with a Tissot watch after averaging 44kph over 60 circuits of the Chris Hoy Velodrome.<br /><br />The 48-year-old had both of his arms and his left leg amputated at eight years old after an incident involving high-voltage power lines.<br /><br />Mr Ten shared a video of himself wearing the watch before telling fans: “It’s world champion time.”
