Officials Issue Evacuation Orders , for Northern California , After Winds Drive Wildfires.<br />'The Independent' reports that parts of California's <br />border with Oregon were issued evacuation orders <br />following high winds that led to a fast-moving wildfire.<br />'The Independent' reports that parts of California's <br />border with Oregon were issued evacuation orders <br />following high winds that led to a fast-moving wildfire.<br />According to officials, the fire was <br />sparked by lightning before racing <br />across national forest lands.<br />Dubbed the Head Fire, the blaze in <br />Siskiyou County is one of at least 19 fires <br />that started in the Klamath National Forest. .<br />Strong winds drove the flames <br />through both timber and rural lands.<br />As of August 15, the fire measured <br />4.2 square miles, covering a slightly <br />smaller area than initial estimates.<br />'The Independent' reports that firefighters continue <br />to try and protect homes in a lightly-populated area <br />about 20 miles from the California-Oregon border.<br />The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office issued evacuation <br />orders for several areas closest to the fires and <br />warned others nearby to be ready to evacuate.<br />In 2022, the McKinney Fire also started in Klamath <br />National Forest and rapidly spread, reducing much <br />of Klamath River to ash and killing four people.<br />On August 15, a number of other lightning-sparked fires were <br />reported in Northern California, including in Mendocino County, <br />Shasta-Trinity National Forest and the Tahoe area.<br />According to officials, those fires were <br />mostly very small and easily contained.
