North Carolina Legislature Overrides Vetoes , to Enact Laws Against Trans Youth.<br />On Aug. 16, the North Carolina General Assembly overrode three of Gov. Roy Cooper's vetoes to enact HB 574, HB 808 and SB 49, Fox News reports. .<br />HB 574, or the Fairness in Women's Sports <br />Act, bans transgender girls and women <br />from participating in women's sports in <br />middle school, high school and college. .<br />HB 808 prohibits medical professionals from providing gender-affirming care to anyone under 18.<br />It is the 22nd state to do so. .<br />SB 49, or the Parents Bill of Rights, <br />mandates that teachers inform parents if their children are questioning their gender or identifying with different pronouns. .<br />All three of the laws <br />were immediately enacted. .<br />The North Carolina High School Athletic Association, which previously instituted a policy to include transgender athletes on sports teams, .<br />will be required to revoke their guidelines <br />and comply with the new law. .<br />While the new laws were praised by many, others view the legislation as discriminatory and cruel. .<br />When we were all sworn into this office, we all swore an oath to uphold the constitution of the state and the U.S. , Rep.
