Southern California Braces for More Flooding , After Being Hit by Tropical Storm Hilary.<br />Hilary, the "first tropical storm to hit <br />Southern California in 84 years," pummeled <br />the area with rain over the weekend, AP reports. .<br />In a matter of days, some locations saw <br />over half of the average amount of rain <br />they'd typically get in an entire year. .<br />In Palm Springs, 911 lines were down. <br />People were instructed to text 911 <br />or directly call police/fire stations. .<br />On Aug. 21, Hilary was downgraded <br />to a post-tropical storm by the <br />National Hurricane Center. .<br />Parts of the Southwest are expected to have "continued life-threatening and locally catastrophic flooding" as the storm subsides, according to the National Hurricane Center. .<br />Southern California was also struck by a <br />5.1 magnitude earthquake near Ojai on Aug. 20. .<br />So far, there haven't been any reports of severe damage or injury from the earthquake, reports the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. .<br />Hilary is the latest climate disaster to affect the U.S., Canada and Mexico, AP reports.<br />Canadian firefighters continue to battle the country's worst-ever fire season.<br />and the Hawaiian island of Maui is still grappling with the effects of America's deadliest wildfire in over a century
