Disappointed England fans have reacted to the Lionesses taking a private route out of Heathrow Airport on Tuesday (22 August) after waiting hours for the squad to arrive home from Australia.<br /><br />Supporters were hoping to show their appreciation for the players, who were narrowly beaten 1-0 in the World Cup final by Spain.<br /><br />Lisa Fountain, who had been waiting since 10:30pm last night, said she was “gutted” she didn’t get to give the Lionesses a heroes’ welcome.<br /><br />“I’m hoping it’s because they’ve been on such a long flight, but we were told that it was their staff who said they couldn’t come through,” she said.
