A woman travelled to Lake Como for FOUR hours with her friends – and says she’'ll “never do a day trip again”.<br /><br />Onyi Okorie, 24, surprised her friend Edesiri, 23, with a surprise birthday day trip to Milan costing a grand total of £285.<br /><br />Edesiri believed she was going away with her sister when eight of her friends turned up at the airport instead.<br /><br />Onyi planned the trip to a tee and the pals flew from Stanstead to Milan on £123 return tickets at 5.55am.<br /><br />After landing at 8.50a on July 29 2023 they got straight on a bus and a train to take them to Bellagio, Lake Como, where they arrived at midday for lunch.<br /><br />They then took a ferry to Varenna, Lake Como, for ice cream and drinks before heading back at 4.30pm to Milan and stopped off at the spa for a massage.<br /><br />Onyi and the friends travelled back to the airport for their 11.20pm flight – but didn’t arrive back in the UK until 3am due to delays.<br /><br />Onyi, a lab admin, from Fulham, London, said: “She thought she was going away with her sister and then we all surprised her.<br /><br />“We had good pizza, ice cream, drinks and chilled in the spa but it was absolutely exhausting.<br /><br />“I’d never do a day trip again.”<br /><br />The girls decided to book something for their friend Edesiri’s birthday but could only go for a day as she had already planned something for the actual date.<br /><br />Onyi looked into day trips and started to plan everything.<br /><br />After arriving in Milan they hopped straight on public transport to get to Lake Como for midday.<br /><br />Onyi said: “We had really good pizza.<br /><br />“We went to a famous street.”<br /><br />They then headed to a different commune, Varenna, and had ice cream and drinks.<br />Onyi said: “It was hot but not nasty hot.”<br /><br />“We dipped our feet in the sea.”<br /><br />They headed back to Milan on a train by 4.30pm – after only having four hour and a half to explore Lake Como.<br /><br />They went straight to the spa when they arrived back where they spent the rest of their time before heading back to the airport at 8.30pm for their 11.20pm flight.<br /><br />Onyi said: “We chilled in the spa.<br /><br />“I didn’t see Milan very much.<br /><br />“I’d definitely go back.”<br /><br />A tired Onyi “didn’t move for the whole weekend” when she got back and doesn’t think she can hack a day trip again but said her friend “loved it”.<br /><br />INTERINERY<br />5.55am – 8.50am - Flight for Standstead to Milan Bergamo airport<br />9.36am – 9.50am - Milan airport bus to Bergamo airport<br />10.07am – 11.24am – Railway to Varenna<br />12.05 – 12.20pm - Ferry to Bellagio<br />14.28pm - Ferry back to Varenna<br />16.35pm – 17.40pm – train back to Milan<br />17.50 – 20.00pm – spa <br />20.30pm – train to Mikan Bergamo airport<br />23.20pm – flight home<br /><br />Cost of return flight - £123 each (€143.76)<br />Cost of airport bus - €2.60 <br />Train to Varenna - €5.80<br />Return ferry from Varenna to Bellagio - £9.20<br />Pizza - €9<br />Ice cream - 3 scoops for €6<br />Train back to Milan from Varenna - €7.80<br />Spa entry - €64 each, massage €49<br />Train back to the airport - €36 <br /><br />Total cost - £285.22 per person
