Trump Ally Gets Speedy Trial

2023-08-26 4 Dailymotion

A trial date of October 23rd has been set for one defendant, Kenneth Chesebro, in Georgia's election subversion case. Chesebro, a Trump-affiliated attorney, filed a motion requesting a speedy trial. Under Georgia law, the case must be tried by the end of the current or next court term. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee approved the October 23rd trial date, but only for Chesebro's case in response to his speedy trial demand. Pre-trial deadlines for him were also set in September. The judge's order means the accelerated timeline only applies to Chesebro for now, not the other 18 defendants. Legal challenges like transfers to federal court could affect whether the cases of Trump or other defendants are tried together or separately from Chesebro's.
