Glasgow headlines 15 September: Four men arrested in connection with 2019 death

Four men have been charged in connection with the death of a man in the Thornliebank area in 2019.<br /><br />33-year-old Anthony Ferns was assaulted inside his car which was parked on Crebar Street, which he managed to drive a short distance away before collapsing. <br /><br />Police have reportedly spoken to to “hundreds” of people within their investigation and examined thousands of hours worth of CCTV before making the arrests. <br /><br />Next up, a new art installation, dubbed the ‘Kelpie’s Cousin’, is to be installed on the site of a new active travel bridge in North Glasgow. <br /><br />The 121-metre tall sculpture will take the title ‘Beithir’ and depict a mythical creature in Scottish folklore. <br /><br />Designed by artist curator Nichol Wheatley, the project is expected to take up to five years to complete. <br /><br />And in other news, the American fast-food chicken chain Popeyes is set to open in Glasgow on 18 September, making it the first of its kind in Scotland<br /><br />It will be located in Barrhead Retail Park, just a 15 minute drive from the city centre.
