National Curry week takes place from October 2-8 and this year is the 25th year celebrating the tasty dish.<br /><br />Manchester is well known for its range of cuisine in the city centre and beyond, and there is one place in the city-region which is synonymous with south Asian food - the curry mile.<br /><br />A stretch of Wilmslow Road in Rusholme is home to some of the best and older Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi restaurants in Manchester.<br /><br />The restaurants started opening in the 50s and 60s as south Asian immigrants arrived in Manchester to work in the city's textile industry.<br /><br />The curry mile is well-known to people around the region and the term was established in the 1980s.<br /><br />Manchester is also home to many other restaurants, and the city centre has chain restaurants such as Dishoom, a place which has become very popular in recent years after a site opened here in 2018.
