Glasgow headlines 12 October: One person being treated after falling in River Kelvin

Emergency services have rescued one person from the River Kelvin while a second remains missing following an incident. <br /><br />A number of appliances were spotted on Gibson Street and Eldon Street in the West End on the evening of 11 October following reports of two people in the water.<br /><br />Police Scotland confirmed the first person was now receiving treatment while they were still searching for the second. <br /><br />Next, a new bridge connecting Govan and Partick will be floating up the River Clyde on Friday 13 October, set to arrive in the city after being built in the Netherlands. <br /><br />The infrastructure is expected to be open by Spring next year, re-establishing a historic link between the two areas.<br /><br />And in other news, Glasgow City Council has pledged to make £1 million in improvements on neighbourhoods based on ideas from the community.<br /><br />The authority asked residents of Pollok and Calton to vote for what they want - key themes include improving open spaces, street lightning, pavements, drainage systems and more.
