Thousands of people marched through Buchanan Street on 14 October in support of Palestine, condemning the recent actions of the Israeli Government. <br /><br />The event was organised by the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign while protests took place in cities across the UK. <br /><br />The Scottish Government has pledged a £500,000 donation to the UN to help set up a humanitarian corridor.<br /><br />Next, two controlled explosions were carried out in the Union Canal after an explosive item was discovered. <br /><br />Police Scotland confirmed a controlled detonation of an unknown item had taken place on Sunday 15 October in the Linlithgow area.<br /><br />The canal stretches between Glasgow and Edinburgh.<br /><br />And in other news, school staff across Glasgow are set to take strike action in the coming weeks after the UNISON union overwhelmingly voted against a Costa pay offer.<br /><br />Dates of the action are yet to be announced, but participants are asking the Scottish Government to commit to a minimum pay of £15 an hour for all local council workers. <br />
