Boubacar Diallo's Fatal Crash @ Dakar Rally 2006 (Aftermath)

The accident that claimed the life of a young spectator occurred near the small village of Kourahoye, Guinea, 25 kilometers after Labè where the thirteenth stage Labé-Tambacounda of the Lisbon-Dakar 2006 had started.<br /><br />The OSC Oscar #420 driven by Marius Saukans-Andris Dambis from Latvia, went out of control, struck and killed a 10-year-old boy named Boubacar Diallo, who was watching the rally with his family. According to different sources, he was 12-year-old; this has not yet been clarified.<br /><br />The OSC is a car manufacturer located in Latvia. Founder of the company was the former Latvian rally driver Andris Dambis.<br /><br />This was the second of three fatal accidents which happened during the Lisbon-Dakar 2006. First was Australian rider Andy Caldecott to be killed during the 9th stage. Two day after the death of Boubacar Diallo, another 12-year-old boy Mohamed N'Daw of Senegal, was struck by an assistance truck during the 14th stage of the rally.<br /><br />To honor the two child spectators who were killed during the race, the organizers decided that 15th stage of the 2006 Lisbon-Dakar Rally was untimed.<br /><br />R.I.P
