Gilbert Richard was the driver of a Tatra assistance truck of Team Toyota, entered in the 1992 West-East Raid, Paris-Moscow-Beijing. On Monday, 07 September of that year, during the fifth stage of the raid, between Saratov and Uralsk in territory of Russia, the truck overturned due to an oil patch on the road.<br /><br />Severely injured, Gilbert Richard was airlifted to Clamart suburb of Paris where he succumbed two days later to his injuries.<br /><br />Another accident which happened during the 10th leg of the raid, in territory of Turkmenistan, left Ambrogio Fogar who co-drove to Giacomo Vismara's Range Rover, paralyzed from the neck down. He died 13 years later, in consequence of the injuries suffered in the crash.<br /><br />R.I.P
