Carlos Sainz claimed bragging rights over his Formula One colleagues at the inaugural Netflix Cup golf event on Tuesday night - before accidentally smashing the trophy to pieces.<br /><br />In a chaotic competition, which fans branded a 'shit show' on social media as F1 and golfing players combined in a unique and at times frantic crossover event, Sainz came out on top in Las Vegas alongside golf-star partner Justin Thomas.<br /><br />The pair defeated Tony Finau and Pierre Gasly in a closest-to-the-pin competition on the final hole to prevail, sparking jubilant scenes as they held the Netflix Cup aloft.<br /><br />However, while taking his turn to show off the trophy, Sainz was left red-faced when he let it slip from his grasp and go tumbling to the floor.<br /><br />ESPN captured the hilarious moment before their cameras panned down to show the cup broken apart.<br /><br />The Ferrari driver was left with his hands on his head as teammate Thomas could not contain his laughter at the situation.<br /><br />Sainz's gaffe capped a memorable day in Vegas, despite fans expressing their confusion about the event on social media.<br /><br />The golf tournament began with protestors on the first tee and a gimmicky opening hole - setting the tone for what fans viewed as a disaster ahead.<br /><br />Lando Norris, Sainz, Alex Albon, and Gasly all were paired respectively with Rickie Fowler, Thomas, Max Homa, and a late addition Tony Finau.<br /><br />But several users pointed out how the event often seemed less focused on the golf and more on Netflix's up-and-coming seasons of Full Swing and Drive to Survive.<br /><br />These were just some of the select messages and Twitter posts that viewers of the Netflix Cup left:<br /><br />'The #netflixcup is the biggest s**t show I have ever seen... people talking over each other, not showing all of the play (including the FINAL WINNING HOLE), cringe-worthy interviews and awkward commentaries.
